My Happy Place: Loving Springtime in London
Hi everyone! It's Alessandra here, and I just had to share my absolute favourite thing about London right now. Is there anything better than London in the spring? Honestly, I don't think so. After the long, grey winter, the city seems to let out a collective, happy sigh as everything suddenly bursts into colour. It's my absolute favourite time of year, and I find myself falling in love with this city all over again.
For me, it starts with the light. The days get longer, and that gorgeous golden-hour glow seems to last forever. Suddenly, my afternoon walks feel less like a necessity and more like a treat. I'll purposely take the long way home, to wander through the squares of Kensington or Chelsea and see the magnolia trees in full, magnificent bloom. There are these incredible clouds of pink and white against the classic white townhouses – it's pure magic.
And the parks! Oh, the parks are where spring truly comes to life. I had a coffee on a bench in St. James's Park just the other day, completely distracted by the cute, fluffy ducklings following their mothers in the pond. The flower beds are a riot of colour, meticulously planted with tulips in every imaginable shade. It's like the gardeners have taken out their paintboxes and gone wild. There's a feeling of gentle, buzzing energy everywhere. People are smiling, having picnics on their lunch breaks, and actually looking up instead of down at their phones.
My spring ritual is simple: find a patch of grass, bring a good book, and just be. There's a certain warmth from the sun that's so different from summer heat; it's a gentle, welcoming warmth that seeps right into your bones. I love sitting outside at a pub for a chilled glass of rosé, feeling the cool breeze mix with the sun on my skin. It's the perfect excuse to people-watch and just feel grateful to be right here, right now.
Spring in London feels like a fresh start. It's a season of hope, of new beginnings, and of sheer beauty. It reminds me to slow down, to notice the small details, and to find joy in the simple act of being outdoors. If you need me for the next few months, you'll probably find me in a park, with my face turned towards the sun, embracing every single moment of it.
