Community Support Line Introduction

You may have noticed our recent banner on Escort Ads offering our Community Support Line and Chat For Support and wondered what and who we are so we wanted to take a moment and tell you a little about us!

The acronym SWOP stands for Sex Worker Outreach Project and SWOP Behind Bars is the largest chapter of SWOPUSA, a National Sex Worker Rights organization that has been around for more than 20 years. We are a national social justice network dedicated to the fundamental human rights of people involved in the sex trade and their communities, focusing on ending violence and stigma through education and advocacy. 

We host the ONLY National Hotline and a Chat or Text for Support for adult providers who might be experiencing a crisis or just need to talk through a difficult day. When you contact us you can be assured that everyone who is answering calls or texting or chatting is a member of the community and has similar lived experience and will work to listen to you and help you navigate whatever you are going through. Even if you just want to talk, we are here and happy to listen.

Our operators and agents are trained to provide crisis support around a multitude of issues and will assist you in the manner in which you direct us.

Mail to Incarcerated Sex Workers is a Harm Reduction Strategy, especially people who have traded sex and queer and transgender folks! Mail Call often happens in public spaces in the prison. When someone hears their name called by a prison guard during Mail Call, it is a reminder that people on the outside care about that person. It is also a message to the guards and other incarcerated people that this person has support and is not forgotten. Looking for a little something to add to an event or with friends that will support Incarcerated Sex workers?  Plan a Pen Pal Party and send cards and letters of encouragement to some who needs it more than you could possibly imagine!  We have Incarcerated Pen Pals in 35 of 50 States and they would love to hear from you!

We create and share custom Amazon Wishlists for sex workers who are incarcerated around the USA.  You can support them by purchasing a book on their customized amazon wishlist.  Our lists are updated monthly and its a great opportunity to easily and quickly assist incarcerated sex workers as they suffer under criminalization!
